Wheel motors wear out over time due to oil contamination, overheated oil and occasion mechanical external trauma caused by poor maintenance, loose wheel studs etc. With good maintenance wheel motors should last on average 2000 – 3000 hrs. You can tell if your wheel motor is a 1 1/4″‘ shaft type by measuring the start (thick end) of the taper.
